A woman from Barnsley has reunited 330 lost dogs with their owners for free all thanks to her thermal imaging drone.

Erica Hart got her first drone, a DJI Phantom, as a gift in April 2018 and soon realised its potential in locating missing pets. Her first successful mission involved finding a schnauzer that had gone missing on a walk.

Local hero

Since then, Erica has dedicated her time to searching for missing dogs across Yorkshire, becoming a local hero. Her work has expanded to include finding other animals like cats, emus, and cows and even assisting mountain rescue teams. Despite receiving requests from all over the UK, Erica stays local to avoid leaving her own dogs for too long.

Erica's dedication is driven by her love for animals and the joy of reuniting pets with their owners. She does not charge for her services and has invested in around 30 drones over the years. Her work is relentless, with daily call-outs, including holidays like Christmas and New Year's Day.

Animal lover

Erica's personal connection to her mission is evident; she has eight dogs, four of which were rescues she found. She is currently saving for a new drone equipped with night vision and thermal cameras to improve her nighttime search capabilities.

Erica's work has touched many lives, providing hope and relief to pet owners. She describes the feeling of finding a lost dog as akin to winning the lottery, emphasising the deep emotional bond between pets and their owners.

Well done, Erica and keep up the superb work!
