The blend of feline and canine companionship sparked a mix of curiosity and trepidation among the household’s existing residents, Piuma, Pila, and Coco.
Maltipoo meets Ragdolls
In a video shared online, Maltipoo Patty, the newcomer, was on her best behaviour, yet her arrival immediately disrupted the usual tranquil routine of the trio of Ragdolls. A Maltipoo is an adorable blend of Maltese and Poodle.
Having never seen a dog before, the cats were curious but unsettled, trying to understand their new four-legged companion’s new scent and demeanour.
The cats all took turns sniffing Patty, perhaps trying to determine whether she was a fellow feline. Then Patty was free to explore her new home, scampering about and appearing keen to play with her new feline siblings. The Ragdolls watched on, unsure what to make of the new arrival, all under the watchful eye of their owners.
Time and patience required
When adding a new pet to your four-legged family, you must focus on getting those first introductions just right. It takes time, patience and careful management to ensure things go smoothly. Integrate a new pet gradually into the household.
Don’t expect everyone to get on immediately and ensure each animal has somewhere they can go to within the house if it gets too much.
While Patty’s arrival may have disrupted the tranquil Ragdoll household, we’re sure they’ll soon get used to each other and perhaps even become best friends.
