When CCTV operators noticed unusual activity at a Dobbies garden centre in Cambridgeshire, they immediately contacted the police.
They had spotted a man taking charity tins from the tills, and filling trolleys with a variety of goods from the store. Little did he know, police dog Vinnie was on his way to the scene of the crime.
Jumping into action
Arriving at the garden centre, Vinnie and his handler began their search for the suspect.
Vinnie was quickly let off-lead, and his handler can be heard warning the thief that she has a dog with her.
The clever canine clearly knew exactly what he needed to do. With his incredible sense of smell, he managed to locate the man in the soft play area, where he was crouching in the corner.
Behind bars
Jumping up to stop him escaping, Vinnie gave his handler the chance to arrest the man, later named as Ricky Homer.
Homer, of no fixed address, pled guilty to burglary and the possession of a class B drug, and was sentenced to a year in jail.
"Great work by both police officer and dog", commented one viewer. Another responded, "brilliant, well done PD Vinnie".
