The unnamed owner pulled up outside a petrol station in Hillman, Michigan, USA, where she let her long-haired Dachshund out of the car to stretch its legs and do some business. Regular breaks are really important when driving long distances with your dog in the car.
Seconds later, an eagle swooped from the sky and attempted to fly off with the tiny pup. Thankfully, this scrappy little guy managed to escape the eagle's grip.

The Dachshund owner shared a picture of the horrific attack across Facebook, along with a warning to other fur parents. "Make sure you hang onto your fur babies at all times," they posted.
Eagle attacks on dogs are extremely rare. According to RSPB conservation officer Robin Reid, there are only two recorded instances of eagles killing dogs in the UK.
"The UK eagles prey on small foxes in the wild, so they're more than capable of flying off with small dogs. However, these birds will rarely come within 20 metres of a human," said Robin.
But there are other dangers closer to home.
In November 2019, a large seagull tried to fly off with Emma the teacup Chihuahua while the tiny pooch was out in her back garden. Emma's mum, Sheila Gillanders, managed to pull her from the bird's talons before it flew off.
Gizmo is gone
Five months earlier, a seagull flew off with another Chihuahua called Gizmo.
"It all happened so quickly," said Rebecca Hill, Gizmo's owner. "One minute he was in the garden, and then there was a yelp, and I saw him being carried off by the seagull."
The Sun newspaper offered a £5,000 reward to help find the missing mutt, but Gizmo was never found.
