People should always buy dogs from a reputable breeder. Let's say that again: people should always buy dogs from a reputable breeder. ALWAYS.
We know you get it, but if you hear anyone else talking about buying a dog from an ad they saw online, then please send them this story. It could save them a lot of trouble, including serious injury.
That's not a dog!
This guy responded to an online ad for cute puppies at a great price and arranged to meet the seller. But like most deals that sound too good to be true, it turned out to be a lie.
The man, who posted the story on TikTok, took one look at the animal and said, "No way. That's not even a dog."
And he was right. This was no dog. Instead, it was a baby hyena. That's right; somebody was trying to sell off a wild predator as a domestic pet. Unbelievable.
"The seller brought the mom and dad (dogs) out to convince me," shared the man in a TikTok video. "I'm looking at them and then at the puppy, and I'm like, 'nah, bro'."
But the seller wasn't ready to give up the scam. He spent the next five minutes trying to convince the man that the puppy would grow up to look just like its so-called "parents."
"I told him it was a hyena, like a dog-cat-wolf," commented the guy. "I was trying to play with it, and it was just laughing...then it bit me on the leg."

Hyenas are not pets
The guy made his excuses and left. It's unclear how the seller managed to get his hands on a wild hyena pup.
Hyenas are natural predators that can attack children, women, and elderly people. Despite what many people think, hyenas are not part of the canine family. These unique and dangerous creatures have an evolutionary family tree of their own, the Hyaenidae.
They would not make a good pet - for anyone, under any circumstances.
