Imagine not seeing your dog for five years! You can't, can you? And we understand. It just doesn't bear thinking about.
But that's exactly what happened to this owner after heartless dog nappers snuck into her home five years ago and stole her beloved pooch. It's every dog parent's worst nightmare come true.
What kind of person steals dogs?
But that nightmare is over now. After half a decade apart, the pair are finally together again. And it's all because this pooch was microchipped.
Manola, a cute mix-breed, was found living in a barn near Valencia, Spain, with several other dogs after the farm owner passed away. It's a mystery how Manola came into the man's possession.
But one scan of Manola's chip identified his true owner, who couldn't quite believe what was happening when she received the call telling her the dog was at a nearby rescue shelter. It was like all her prayers had been answered. Manola means god is with us in Spanish. A very fitting name!
A shelter volunteer filmed the adorable reunion and shared the footage on Instagram. This clip comes with a severe tear-jerking warning.
The two-minute video, which has over 80K views and counting, shows the super-cute moment when the owner runs toward Manola and scoops him up in her arms.
That's followed by an even cuter scene when Manola realises who this is. It only takes him a few sniffs to figure out that mum is back.
Please get your pet chipped
They say an elephant never forgets. Well, neither does a dog who loves its human. A dog's love is timeless.
We've said it before. And we'll say it plenty of times in the future. Microchipping works. If your dog isn't chipped, getting it done should go straight to the top of your to-do list.
It's job number one. Seriously. Microchips keep pets and people together. It's also a legal requirement. Owners who don't comply face a fine of up to £500.
