A lost Pitbull mama and her puppies have reunited thanks to the help of an amazing charity. Now all the dogs have a chance of finding their perfect forever homes.

People spotted the poor Pitbull wandering the streets of New Orleans, USA. The dog was anxious and distressed, and she'd clearly given birth to a litter of puppies.

So a good samaritan put in a call to the Villalobos Rescue Center,  a local dog shelter charity that specialises in caring for and rehoming Pitties. Tia Torres, the shelter's manager and founder, managed to track the dog down within a few hours.

A bark for help

Despite her anxious state and poor physical condition, the mama Pittie was surprisingly friendly. She welcomed the strokes and cuddles and gobbled up a few treats.

Rescue workers leashed the stray, intending to take her back to the shelter. But as soon as that lead went on, this determined mama had other ideas. She decided to take these people for a walk. And she led her new humans back to a house where the puppies were waiting.

The pups and mama had been left to fend for themselves after their owner had been arrested. Tia thinks the mama Pittie left the house in search of help. The state of Tia, her puppies, and the house suggested that the owner was not the kind of person who should ever have dogs.

After liaising with the police and animal welfare organisations, Tia received permission to remove the dogs. They then enjoyed a heartwarming family snuggle back at the shelter, where they finally started receiving the proper love and care.

Pittie's make the world a better place

We're not sure what happened to mama and her babies after that, but they were definitely in the right place. Tia loves all dogs but is especially passionate about helping and rehoming Pitties.

Like every real dog person, Tia understands that these sweet animals are often the victim of negative stereotypes. And that with the correct training and socialisation, Pitties are giant lovebugs with adorable personalities.

The world needs more Pitties, not less.
