Volunteers from the Louisiana SPCA opened the doors of their shelter to Cow, who had been abandoned overnight in January. Tied to the facility's fence, the dog didn't seem to understand what was going on...
Disorientated and frightened, the animal received all the affection he needed from the volunteers. "He was very scared and would growl softly when he met new people," one of them told The Dodo.
Over time, Cow began to come out of his shell and relax. The shelter had been trying to find him a family for the past two months when some unexpected news arrived.
A moving reunion
Shelter staff were told that a family was desperately looking for their dog, since it had been stolen. The dog was Cow! Somehow, the animal had ended up at the SPCA.
This helped to reunite him with his loved ones. They were thrilled when they found out that their furry friend would soon be returned to them.
Relief for everyone
Cow had become accustomed to the presence of the volunteers and was friendly with everyone. But when he saw his owner again, he reached an immeasurable level of happiness. "Cow was so excited to see his family," said a team member, "he was jumping up and down and wagging his tail like we had never seen him do before!" At the reunion, the dog was literally overjoyed!
Cow never thought he would find his people. Luckily, he's back home, and he's planning to stay there forever.
