In mid-June, a bag was left outside a rescue centre in Nuremberg. The volunteers immediately opened it, fully aware of what they might find inside.
And they were absolutely right.
An abandoned puppy
The bag was left by the side of a road, directly exposed to the sun, with temperatures soaring. Inside was a puppy just a few weeks old, and he was in a terrible state. His body was covered in scabs, his eyes urgently needed drops, and the puppy was severely stressed, making him aggressive.
A heartbreaking discovery
Next to the dog, named Henry, was a note explaining that his owner could no longer care for him and that he needed help. The note also mentioned that the dog was only 12 weeks old.
Volunteers express their anger
Outraged by Henry's deplorable condition, the rescue centre's volunteers vented their frustration on their Facebook page. They described how selfish and unfair it was to abandon a living creature in such a manner.
However, what Henry's owner had not anticipated was how easily she could be identified. She had left the vaccination certificate in the dog's bag, making it simple for the rescue centre to trace her and seek further explanations.
