A couple of days ago, a mum and her boy were passing in front of a field in the Polish countryside.
Suddenly, the boy noticed something from the corner of his eye. When he realised what it was, he immediately warned his mother, who quickly called an animal rescue.
Dog abandoned during the summer holidays
Indeed, what they found left them speechless. A Cocker Spaniel was sitting near a cardboard box which had previously been taped shut. No doubt the owner had wanted to go away on vacation and found his pet to be an imposition. Sadly, his loyal dog was waiting for this very owner, whom he loved and trusted, to come back to him.
When the animal rescuers arrived, they tried to catch the dog, which they later named “Miodek”. Unfortunately, Miodek was very fearful and tried to run away from them at every opportunity. Thankfully, with a little bit of food, Miodek was finally persuaded and went along to the shelter with his rescuers.
The poor little guy was emaciated, dirty, matted, and clearly nervous. After all, he must be wondering why his owner never came back.
Cocker Spaniel now up for adoption
Thankfully, he is now in the right hands. He will be well taken care of until a forever family comes along. Meanwhile, the shelter is appealing for help to try and find Miodek’s previous owner. While rehoming a pet responsibly is perfectly acceptable, abandoning one to fend for themselves is cruel and illegal.
Hopefully, Miodek’s future will be brighter than his past. Good luck, little guy!
