A wonderfully heartwarming video of a calf and a puppy shows that nothing can get in the way of true friendship, not even time apart or being different species.

Blanáid May from Ireland was out walking her Cockapoo when she spotted a Golden Retriever puppy sitting on a wall licking a calf at a local farm.

Intrigued by this unusual display of affection between a dog and a cow, Blanáid decided to find out more about the pair’s relationship. What she discovered will melt your heart.

Long-lost friends

According to Blanáid, the puppy and calf had previously met around six months ago. It was love at first sight for the pair and they instantly formed a strong bond. The calf was then taken away from the farm for three months. But despite the time apart, neither the calf nor the puppy had forgotten each other.

In Blanáid’s TikTok video, you see the best friends reunite, and it’s a heartwarming moment. The pair was so happy to be back together, licking each other affectionately as the puppy excitedly wagged his tail. The puppy was so eager to be with his best friend that he even jumped on a wall to get closer to the calf.

Enduring love

The clip is made even more heartwarming thanks to the audio, which includes the quote: "They say when you meet the love of your life, time stands still."

The clip has been a huge hit with people on TikTok who described it as "so pure and precious". One person said it was "the most heart-swelling thing I’ve seen. We don’t deserve these amazing beings’.

Another suggested that the animals may have known each other in a previous life, "Imagine they were two souls who knew each other or were married or something in a past life, and were reincarnated and somehow found each other again."
