Sadly, owners will make the decision to abandon their pets for a number of reasons. The appearance of a costly illness, especially in an old individual, is one of them.

That’s exactly what happened to poor Henry, an 8-year-old Golden Retriever, who was dumped by his owners when his health declined.

He was found wandering the streets of Newport Beach, Los Angeles all alone.

A surprising sight

The poor dog was struggling to walk - with reason. He had a gigantic tumour growing on the side of his stomach.

Thankfully, Henry was rescued and people immediately fell for his loving, happy-go-lucky personality. Within just a few hours, $500 had been raised to go towards his medical bills. It was urgent to remove the tumour, as it was placing unbearable stress on poor Henry’s legs.

A whole new start

So, only five days after being rescued, Henry underwent surgery to get his tumour completely removed. The operation was a success, relieving Henry of an extra 21 kilos of weight! Shortly after the operation, the sweet dog was playing fetch and running around just like a young pup.

We are so thankful this sweet soul was saved!
