Around two years ago, Rudy Armstrong was enjoying a peaceful snooze on his houseboat. Bubu, his faithful pup, was also catching a few Zs. In fact, it was one of those perfect dog-day afternoons for the pair.
Bubu barks for help
But when Rudy woke up, he knew something was wrong. He couldn't move his arm, and he quickly realised he was having a stroke. He couldn't reach a phone, so he turned to Bubu instead. "I need help," said Rudy.
And that's when the super pooch sprang into action. Bubu bolted down to the marina and found Kim, the dockmaster. Kim followed the barking puppy back to the houseboat, where she found Rudy stretched out the sofa. Kim called paramedics, and Rudy was rushed into hospital for life-saving treatment.
Rudy began making a steady recovery. But after weeks in the hospital, he missed his furry friend. So hospital manager Brandy Popp arranged a special visit!
"Rudy has no family nearby, so I orchestrated a reunion between him and Bubu," said Brandy.
A beautiful reunion
Bubu seemed a little confused at first. But as soon as Rudy pulled down his face mask, Bubu jumped on her dad's lap for kisses and cuddles.
"It was a beautiful, moment," said Brandy.
Rudy has since returned home. And, of course, little Bubu is right by his side.
