Staff at Paws and Hooves Rescue Foundation in Stilwell, Oklahoma, discovered the box as they arrived for work. They could guess what was inside.
The box had been duct-taped shut with just a few air holes made on the sides.
Poor puppies
As the tape holding the lid down on the box was cut, 10 little black puppies were revealed inside. The box had been dumped overnight in the pouring rain. However, it was incredibly hot inside the box. One little puppy suffered heatstroke. Miraculously, though, all the dogs had survived their ordeal.
Fortunately, all 10 of the puppies shown in the video have now been adopted. However, many more abandoned pets are seeking forever homes.
Overwhelmed
Staff at the shelter are already overwhelmed with the number of animals in their care and don’t know what the animals may have been exposed to or what illnesses they may be carrying and bringing to the shelter.
The video quickly went viral, reaching almost 20 million views. It’s hoped that people will see just what animal shelters have to deal with regularly and the implications of abandoning animals.
