A shocking case of neglect

Poor Grizzly is only nine months old, but he has already endured the worst of horrors in his short life. The puppy was found in Seine-Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris.

He was brought to a veterinary clinic by a man who claimed the dog wasn't his and refused to pay for any treatment.

When he arrived at the clinic, Grizzly had a choke collar that had cut deeply into his skin. The wound was so severe that the collar was actually embedded in his flesh. To make matters worse, the wound was badly infected.

Emergency surgery and a new beginning

The rescuers at Action Protection Animale believe there are two possible scenarios that could have led to this dreadful situation. Either the puppy had the choke collar on as he grew, which eventually tightened and cut into his neck. Or, he was tethered by the collar for a long time and injured himself badly while trying to get free. Either way, his situation was terribly cruel.

Grizzly underwent surgery to remove the choke collar from under his skin. Fortunately, Action Protection Animale recently announced that the operation was a success. The brave little dog is now preparing to go to a foster home and will be ready for adoption in the coming weeks. We wish him all the best in finding a loving family who will help him forget the cruel first few months of his life.
