In 2025, Caitlyn and her daughter came across a mysterious cat. Living in Arizona, USA, they had spotted him several times in their neighbourhood.
One day, they found him watching them from inside a storm drain.
Caitlyn quickly realised the cat was terrified, so she spent several days trying to build a connection with him.
A very old cat
With a lot of patience, Caitlyn managed to get closer to the animal and soon realised that he only had three legs.
As she explained to The Dodo, the tomcat turned up at her doorstep one rainy day. The poor thing was soaked to the bone.
After a trip to the vet, Caitlyn discovered the cat was microchipped. Luckily, they were able to contact the owner, who revealed something unbelievable.
A home at last
The cat, named Bambino, was an incredible 14 years old. He had been found as a kitten with an injured leg. Sadly, the limb was too badly damaged and had to be amputated. The man who found him decided to keep him at the time.
Seven years later, this same man gave him to a neighbour. Unfortunately, Bambino somehow ended up on the streets. Whether he was abandoned or simply escaped, no one will ever know.
After hearing his story, Caitlyn decided to adopt Bambino. "I've been saying for years that I want a cat," she said. "So I'm glad a cat just magically appeared, because I didn't have time to think about whether it was the right time or not. Now I just have a cat."
