The kitten was only a few weeks old when she arrived at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter in California, USA, back in March.
At the time, she was in desperate need of help to survive.
A life-threatening condition
She had swollen up "like a balloon" because the air she was breathing was getting trapped under her skin. This was an extremely dangerous condition, and without surgery, Zoe's chances of survival were very slim.
Fortunately, the vet looking after Zoe managed to treat her by extracting the air with a needle. Zoe quickly deflated after the procedure. On 22nd April, the vet finally shared some wonderful news... He announced that the kitten was now ready for adoption. Zoe can now find her forever home and finally live the life a kitten should!
Ready for a new home
Those wishing to adopt Zoe have until 26th April 2026 to submit their applications, and each one will be carefully reviewed. The rescuers and clinic staff want to ensure that the kitten goes to the perfect family for her.
It's worth noting that there will be a $500 adoption fee for Zoe, which will help support the future care of other animals at the shelter.
In another post, Zoe's vet mentioned that he was so emotional about the news that he had to film the announcement several times, as you can see below. We sincerely hope that Zoe finds the perfect home very soon!
