Sadly, when his family moved house, they took him to Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg in the United States.
After spending his entire life alongside those he loved, the moggy found himself overnight living behind the bars of a kennel.
Intense stress
This sudden change was a terrible shock for him. So much so that the moggy stopped eating. He remained withdrawn in his kennel, having lost his zest for life.
The rescuers were determined to restore Loki's will to live. They used an appetite stimulant to help him eat, which worked. They also knew it was absolutely vital to find a loving family for the senior moggy as quickly as possible so he could spend his twilight years in the comfort of a home.
The perfect family
Loki's former owner had told the rescuers that the cat got on well with other cats and rabbits, but didn't like dogs. So the rescuers set about finding the ideal home for him.
Fortunately, shortly after arriving at the shelter, the moggy found his forever family. He was adopted by someone who loves him and will love him until the end of his days. As you can see in the video below, Loki adores cuddles from his new owner.
When they heard the good news, people online were delighted. They sent their congratulations on Facebook along with their best wishes: "Congratulations, Loki! I wish you and your new family a happy life forever." We also wish Loki lots of gentleness and plenty of strokes!
