Samantha Durden and Zack Davis live with their four dogs, Asher, Hades, Maple and Cypher. For a long time, they'd dreamt of being able to give them a proper garden. Until then, the couple had to walk each of their dogs separately, several times a day. It was a real daily marathon, especially with the younger ones still learning to be house-trained.
Last August, the couple were finally able to make this dream come true by buying a house with a large plot of land in Atlanta, United States. Their priority was to have a fence installed so their dogs could run freely and safely. After a month's wait to get approval from the neighbourhood association, the work could begin.
A liberating moment full of emotion
When the fence was put up, Samantha and Zack decided to film their dogs' reaction. At first hesitant, used to never going out without a lead, the four pooches eventually stepped through the door and discovered their new playground. Within seconds, surprise gave way to overwhelming joy. The dogs started running, jumping and playing together, as if they were discovering freedom for the first time.
For the couple, the moment was particularly moving, especially seeing Asher, their oldest dog, regain his energy of old. Usually calm and reserved, he started galloping about with the younger ones, visibly transformed by this new space.
Since then, the four dogs have spent most of their time outdoors, exploring every corner of the garden. Their owners, meanwhile, are savouring this simple happiness: watching their companions thrive, free and content.
Of course, this garden doesn't replace the dogs' daily walks.
