An unexpected encounter
In Texas, Emily decided to unwind after a busy day at work. While she was enjoying her evening, she spotted a dog all alone in the street.
In many dog-friendly places, it's common to see pets, but this one wasn't a regular.
Feeling an indescribable connection, the woman knew she had to take this dog home with her. With no preparation at all – no lead, no bed, and no food at home – the young woman followed her gut.
Within a few hours, the woman's life went from solo to living with a dog.
A devastating diagnosis
Emily named her Muffin, and a vet checked for a microchip, but found nothing.
The vet estimated the dog was between 7 and 10 years old. She was dirty and smelly, so many thought she had been on her own for quite some time.
Sadly, Emily was about to discover that the dog might have cancer and would need extensive veterinary care.
Emily decided to hand Muffin over to a rescue centre so she could receive the best possible care. "I'm heartbroken today," Dawson wrote on TikTok. "I know this isn't the outcome anyone wanted, but I still believe it's what's best for Miss Muffin, and that's what truly mattered."
