Her former owners had moved away, simply leaving her behind.
Outside their old house, they had piled up unwanted belongings and rubbish, waiting for it all to be thrown away.
Movement amongst the rubbish
As a neighbour walked past the house, something caught her eye. It was a little white dog, wandering around the pile of discarded items.
It was clear the poor pup had been fending for herself for quite some time. The neighbour quickly realised that the former owners had moved out and abandoned their pet.
On the road to recovery
The neighbour immediately contacted the rescuers at Tzu Zoo Rescue, who rushed to the scene to help. They named her Treasure — a poignant choice for a little dog who had been treated like absolute rubbish.
They took her straight to the vet, where tests revealed she was suffering from flea-allergic dermatitis, which had caused her to lose patches of her fur. The vet estimated that Treasure was only about a year old.
For now, she has been placed in a loving foster home. While she absolutely adores her foster mum, she does suffer from separation anxiety, which is completely understandable given what she has been through. The wonderful news is that her fur is starting to grow back, and Treasure is gaining more confidence every day.
Now, this brave little dog is safe and surrounded by love. We hope she can soon put the past behind her and find her perfect forever home!
