Mechanics find puppy inside a tyre in scorching heat, and his transformation is incredible

By Elise Petter•

In scorching temperatures of over 38°C, mechanics in South Texas found a very weak six-week-old puppy curled up inside a tyre.

On that sweltering day, temperatures topped 100°F (about 38°C) when workers at a garage in South Texas, USA, made an unexpected discovery. Curled up inside a tyre was a six-week-old puppy. He could barely stand, wobbled on his tiny legs, and had severely dry, cracked skin. The mechanics contacted the rescue charity Freedom Bound Hounds straight away, and volunteers promised to do everything they could to save him.

Jenny Carlisle, from the charity, admitted she had her doubts at first. In a video for The Dodo, she said: "We weren't sure he was going to make it." The pup, named Ravioli, was placed with a specialist medical foster family. There, he received regular meals and treatment, and he fell asleep every night snuggled up with his new toys.

A spectacular recovery

Within just a few days, the difference was remarkable. Ravioli started to regain his strength and was soon wagging his tail at lightning speed. Once he was stable, he travelled to Idaho to finish his recovery with another foster family. His coat began to grow back, his bloated tummy went down, and the weak little pup from a few weeks before was replaced by a happy, healthy dog.

A wonderful new home

In a lovely twist of fate, the family who decided to adopt him permanently lives just across the street from his foster home. Ravioli now has two four-legged siblings, and he spends his days playing and exploring with his new best friends.
