Rescuers from the charity ThisIsHouston Rescue (TIH) rushed to the scene. Looking at her condition, they believed she had been abandoned there for some time. The puppy, who was named Pretzel, was taken straight to the charity's emergency clinic.
Tests soon revealed the full extent of the damage. Pretzel had severe injuries to her legs and was suffering from multiple infections. The puppy was also malnourished. Her condition was touch-and-go, and the medical team were not sure if she would make it.

The vets put her on a tailored diet and treatment plan to help her fragile body regain strength safely. Pretzel was terrified at first, but she slowly learned to trust her rescuers.
