Dog travels over 300 miles to bite the owner who abandoned him

Now that's what you call a dog with a long memory! But it's hard to blame him under the circumstances.

This whole story begins in a small village in the east of France. A couple in their forties called the police because the man had been bitten by his dog. So far, nothing particularly surprising or noteworthy.

Except this was the very same dog his owners had abandoned over 300 miles away, having decided he was no longer useful. They did this for no other reason than the dog had become an inconvenience and was now "unwanted".

A dog's revenge

Speaking to the police, the man explained the situation. He tried to justify abandoning the dog by claiming that no one would take him in because he had become too much of a handful, and that nobody wanted to take him out for his evening walk anymore. Not knowing what else to do, the man decided to use a business trip as an opportunity to dump the dog as far away from home as possible, hoping he would never be found.

But a month later, there was his dog, standing right in front of him. And he decided to show his owner just how furious he was by biting him on the calf!

So, this dog had travelled no less than 300 miles to bite the owner who had cowardly abandoned him in the middle of nowhere.

Or did he?

An April Fool's joke inspired by a true story

Although this story is inspired by a true event (in which the dog reportedly travelled 'only' about 60 miles), it is not real. It's an April Fool's joke. This year, we decided to use this occasion to remind everyone how much suffering abandoning a pet can cause. Furthermore, if you can no longer care for your pet, there is a right way to handle the situation. You should never just abandon an animal in the wild.
