In the United States, a road accident has left residents of an entire neighbourhood appalled. As reported by BFM TV, a Waymo self-driving car killed a cat in the Mission Dolores neighbourhood.
According to information gathered, the car didn't even slow down on impact. The vehicle carried on its way as if nothing had happened.
A rodent hunter
Nine years old, KitKat was well known in his neighbourhood. A stray cat, he had been taken in by a neighbour before making his home in a grocery shop. For six years, the cat had been on a mission to rid the shop of rodents.
"16th Street (where the shop is located, editor's note) will never be the same. This morning, walking from Mission Street to here with candles and flowers, everyone knew who they were for. Everyone paid their respects," said a neighbour, Margarita Lara, with emotion.
This accident is not an isolated case. In June 2023, two dogs died after being struck by self-driving cars.
