The Golden Retriever decided to get out!
A terrible fall
In a flash, Matilda jumped from the moving car and fell roughly 25 feet down into a water reservoir below. Matilda landed in the water and swam to some bushes on a sort of island within the reservoir. Her owner was completely panicked. She called the Katonah Fire Department (KFD) for help.
Ten firefighters arrived quickly on the scene. They launched an inflatable dinghy to reach Matilda. Once the rescuers got close to her, the dog proved very cooperative. The firefighters had no difficulty lifting her into the dinghy.
A miracle
Miraculously, the little dog had no injuries at all. She was just soaking wet and tired. Matilda's family were more than grateful to the rescuers for bringing their dog back safe and sound.
The firefighters said: "It's not often that the Katonah Fire Department receives a call like this one." Everyone was delighted, and this harrowing day finally ended in joy!
