Seeing a recently adopted animal return is one of the biggest fears for shelter staff and volunteers. This is exactly what happened to Cassondra, a volunteer at the Maui Humane Society in Hawaii, USA.
As reported by Newsweek, the woman was devastated to see Cienna, a recently adopted puppy, back at the shelter. To make matters worse, Cassondra also realised that two other puppies from the same litter had also been returned.
"They deserve better"
The litter had been found wandering on a motorway on the island of Molokai. Among the four dogs found, one had been hit by a car. Fortunately, the injured female dog pulled through.
Luckily, the animals had found new homes before ending up back at square one. The families had been able to take advantage of a trial period: "We do receive dogs back from trial adoptions, which is why we offer this service in case it's absolutely not a good fit. But seeing all three puppies come back within days of each other was strange."
On TikTok, the situation of these three pups sparked anger among many users. "What's wrong with people?", "They deserve better", "Please, someone save these babies" can be read in the comments.
