After adopting the first dog he'd worked with in the military, he wanted to give his second retired working dog the same chance.

A soldier with a big heart. After spending four years in Afghanistan with Dorka, a Belgian Malinois trained in explosive detection, a young man had to find a new working partner as his dog was getting on in years.

Not wanting to abandon his faithful companion, the man decided to adopt her when she retired. He wanted to give her the golden years she so richly deserved.

When he spent another four years in Afghanistan with Mane, a new dog with the same skills, he couldn't bring himself to leave her behind when he left the military either.

Once Mane reached retirement age, the man wanted to give her the same life as Dorka. It was his way of thanking her for those four years of partnership.

While he wasn't quite sure how the two dogs would react when they first met, he certainly wasn't disappointed. He filmed their first moments together and captured some truly heartwarming footage.

As if they'd always known each other, or as if they were twins, the two dogs immediately hit it off. They shared a very special connection from the start.

Without a doubt, Dorka and Mane were meant to meet. The footage of their introduction has melted the hearts of more than 5 million viewers online.

Today, the two dogs are the best of friends and bring joy to their owner. He can be proud of having been their partner through all the stages of their lives.
