"Sometimes all it takes is showing up," wrote the rescue volunteer as she shared a clip of Shyanne to Instagram.
Sad and frightened, the poor pup's head hung so low she could barely look up.
Shyanne's heartbreaking fate
The 10-month-old puppy was wary of human contact and wouldn't walk on a lead. Heartbreakingly, she was next in line for euthanasia.
But when she met Madeline, everything changed.
The emaciated dog turned to face her, and delicately wriggled towards her for some company. "Against my better judgment, I went to meet her, and she's just as special as I expected. She's the most squinty-eyed, waggy-tailed, submissive little girl ever" Madeline explained.
Happy news
Thankfully, the dog lover's footage soon went viral. With over 3 million views, it helped give Shyanne the extra visibility she desperately needed and she was transferred to the care of Pippy's Pals Rescue.
She is now in a foster home, where she's been given a new name and a second chance at happiness.
"Pebbles, formerly known as Shyanne, is doing incredibly well in her foster home" shared the team on Facebook. "We are so happy to see it!"
