"Marmite’s is a horrible story to tell, but it happened so I’ll relay it", explains the founder of Safe Rescue UK, a charity dedicated to rescuing dogs from a public shelter in Romania.
"We cannot let humans let her down again- this is her time for a better life and we won’t fail her", they continued.
Surviving against all odds
Marmite, as she was later named, was first brought in to the shelter in Botosani by her owners, who decided they didn't want her because she was "too friendly". She was later adopted by somebody, who tied her to a chain at the end of the garden. Desperate for company and attention, she did everything to break free.
Heartbreakingly, this almost ended in tragedy.
When Marmite's new owner went outside to check on her, they found her hanging from the chain.
By some miracle, this brave girl survived - only to be brought straight back to the shelter.

Time for true happiness
Marmite is now in safely in the UK, where she's thriving in a loving foster home.
She is a big, strong dog - but anyone lucky to share their life with her won't notice her size, explains the rescue. She spends most of her time on her back with her paws in the air, asking anyone who passes by for belly rubs!

Marmite has already been through so much. Now it's time for her to find true, lasting happiness with a family of her own.
