A dog owner was left concerned when his perfectly healthy pet, Fletcher, suddenly began limping shortly after the family adopted Candy, a three-legged rescue from Thailand.

However, it soon became clear that despite his new apparent, Fletcher wasn’t actually injured; he was copying Candy in a heartwarming show of support.

Candy lost a leg after being abandoned as a puppy, but she has quickly adapted to her new life in Spain.

The touching moment was shared online by animal rescuer Niall Harbison, who works with street dogs in Thailand. Posting the story on social media, he wrote: “Fletcher wanted to make sure Candy felt comfortable. He says he loves his new sister.”

The video quickly went viral, with viewers praising Fletcher’s empathy. “Dogs are incredible,” one user commented. Another added: “Fletcher has more kindness than many humans.”

Canine companionship melting hearts

Experts suggest that dogs may imitate behaviours for attention or social bonding. Whether conscious or not, Fletcher’s act of companionship has melted hearts worldwide.

Candy is now thriving in her new home, and Fletcher continues to prove that kindness knows no bounds, even in the animal kingdom.

What a good boy, Fletcher!
