It turned out to be what you might call "false advertising." In January 2025, Nancy shared the unusual story of her puppy.
Nancy, who lives in Florida, welcomed a Labrador puppy (or so she thought) into her home on New Year's Day.
An unexpected surprise
Rocco came from a family that was unable to care for him. At the time of adoption, the family assured Nancy that he was a black Labrador.
However, after two weeks, she began to notice that her Labrador was starting to look different.
A visit to the vet confirmed the unexpected truth: Rocco was actually a Cane Corso, a breed that is significantly larger than a Labrador. While a Labrador typically weighs no more than 35kg, a fully grown Cane Corso can reach up to 50kg.
Happy ending
Despite the surprise, Nancy never considered returning Rocco to his original family. "We researched black Labradors, but the only thing I really knew about Corsos was that they make excellent guard dogs. Honestly, we don’t need one for that, but he has already stolen our hearts," she said.
On her Instagram account, Nancy shared that she is now looking for professional training to help Rocco adapt to her lifestyle and thrive in his new home.
