A man who thought he'd lost everything in the devastating Los Angeles fires was finally reunited with his dog, Oreo.

When the fires broke out in the Palisades, Los Angeles, last week, Casey Colvin was at work in Downtown LA.

He immediately got into his car and started driving back home to retrieve his two beloved dogs, who had been left at home alone for the day. Unfortunately, with all the evacuation orders, the roads were quickly jammed. And the fires were spreading quickly. After spending 5 hours in traffic, Casey was told by fire rescue crews that he couldn't go any further - his whole neighbourhood was burning and it was just too dangerous.

One dog rescued, and another missing

A fireman, seeing Casey's distress, noted down his address and went to the burning property to the retrieve the dogs. He was able to rescue one of them, a scruffy black dog named Tika Tika Tika. But sadly, as he opened the door to the house, little Oreo, a fearful and behavioural Pomeranian mix, ran out of the burning home.

For the next four days, Casey did nothing but spread the word, search, and call out for his beloved dog. When he was finally able to return to the site of his home, he realised how damaged his property was. He feared Oreo hadn't survived.

Yet, with multiple sightings of the little dog throughout the neighbourhood, there was hope!

A miraculous reunion

Yesterday, all of Casey's prayers were answered. Oreo was spotted near a neighbour's house. Casey and the NBC crew, who had been following his story, made their way to the property, which was now a pile of rubble.

When Oreo recognised his owner, he ran towards him with no hesitation, and the pair were finally reunited in an emotional embrace.

"Oh my God, you're alive! Whoooo! Oh thank you, God!", screamed Casey as he danced with joy through the charred streets.

Casey may have lost a lot in these fires, but being reunited with his two babies was all the miracle he needed.
