Staff at Bloomfield Animal Shelter (BAS) in New Jersey were met with a heart-wrenching discovery when they arrived at work recently.

Two senior dogs, Shadow and Tiger, had been tied to the shelter’s fence, accompanied by a note from their owner explaining their desperate situation.

The message revealed the heartbreaking backstory: the dogs’ owner had lost their home to foreclosure and was now living on the streets, unable to care for the pair. “My babies deserve to live their golden years happy and in a warm home,” the note read, pleading for the shelter to keep the 15-year-old littermates together.

Christine Biggiani Bakelaar from Scooby-Doo’s Rescue Mission stepped forward, finding a temporary foster home for the bonded brothers.

The note struck an emotional chord with Biggiani Bakelaar, who shared, “Their birthday is October 12… THAT’S MY BIRTHDAY! This was meant to be.

New beginnings

Shadow and Tiger are now safe and well-cared for on a loving foster farm. Rescuers are working to locate their previous owner for medical insights and updates.

While awaiting adoption, the dogs are enjoying their new chapter filled with warmth and love.

They will never be separated,” Biggiani Bakelaar promised.
