So what could be the reason they wanted to have the pup put down? A devastating accident. A horse had crushed the puppy's right hind leg, leaving it severely injured.
Faced with the extent of the damage, Ollie's owners believed euthanasia was their only option. But the veterinary team couldn't bring themselves to go through with it.
A glimmer of hope
Unable to provide the care Ollie needed, the clinic reached out for help. They contacted the specialist veterinary team at Sky Sanctuary Rescue, pleading for assistance with the case.
When the Border Collie arrived at the rescue clinic, doctors quickly determined that the leg was beyond saving. The only way to ensure the puppy’s survival was to amputate the damaged limb.
A heartwarming video shared by the clinic shows Ollie on his way to surgery, wagging his tail despite his ordeal. Later, following a successful amputation, the tiny puppy is seen peacefully sleeping in the arms of a smiling staff member – a touching image that has melted hearts around the world.
A loving home wanted
Although Ollie has overcome incredible odds, his journey isn’t over yet. “Now Ollie needs a loving forever home,” reads a heartfelt Instagram post from the clinic. “Border collies are loyal, intelligent dogs who thrive with structure, training, and plenty of activity. Even with three legs, Ollie can live a full and joyful life.”
The rescue centre is urging people to share Ollie’s story far and wide to help find him the perfect family. While millions have been moved by his bravery, Ollie is still waiting for someone to take him home.
