In it, the Maltese's owner captured the little white dog coming in after a walk. But unlike most dogs, he doesn't just run inside.

The well-mannered pup stops right on the doormat, and proceeds to wipe all four paws before entering the house.

"So polite"

Animal lovers were left in awe of the dog's impressive trick, with hundreds praising his behaviour.

"Wow. What a beautiful pooch... and so polite too", wrote one viewer.

"This doggy has more manners and training than most humans", commented Janice, to which another viewer replied,  "I know a few humans who skip this step".

It turns out, training a dog to wipe their paws may not be as difficult as it first appears. If you want to teach your own pup this handy trick, you'll need a mat and some of their favourite treats.

Place the treats under the mat, and praise and reward them as they scratch to find them. Once they've got the hang of the game, it's time to add in a verbal cue or a hand signal.

Practice with each paw individually, to help your dog feel confident wiping their paws. Then, gradually build up to all four paws, rewarding and praising each time they get it right.
