Animal shelter workers recently made a heartbreaking discovery at the gate of the Foundation for Dogs and Cats in Isère, France.

A small, black and white Shih Tzu, aged 11, was found abandoned, tied to the gate with nothing but a leash.

The dog, blind and visibly neglected, lay motionless as if she had given up.

Abandoned with nothing

Shelter staff quickly assessed the dog’s condition, only to learn that her owner had cruelly left her without any basic necessities like a blanket or water.

Though the dog was microchipped, the contact number was no longer valid, leaving the shelter unable to trace her former owner.

Under French law, the shelter must hold the dog for eight days so that the original owner can claim her.

Waiting for a new home

However, given the circumstances, staff have little hope that anyone will return for her. The old Shih Tzu now waits in a kennel, hoping for a new family to give her a second chance.

Despite the cruelty she endured, shelter workers are committed to finding her a loving home where she can spend her final years in comfort.

We wish her the best of luck.
