Ariel, an adorable Cocker Spaniel named after Disney's Little Mermaid, was left outside a B&M store at just 11 weeks old.
New life
She was taken in by Greenacres Rescue in Haverfordwest, and despite being born with six legs, two vulvas, and one kidney, Ariel is now flourishing with her new family.
Ollie Bird, who runs an adaptive surf school in West Wales, adopted Ariel after the family's 16-year-old dog passed away. Initially hesitant to get another dog, the Birds felt their home was too empty without one. Upon contacting Greenacres, they met Ariel and welcomed her into their lives.
Ollie reports that Ariel has adjusted well. "She joins us everywhere we go. She walks well, though she needs little breaks. If we go on long walks, I put her in a bag or give her plenty of stops. She's swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, and is wonderful with kids and families. She's a very gentle soul."
A happy beginning
Donations for Ariel's care exceeded £15,000, and her new family is grateful for the outpouring of support. "We can't thank those people enough," said Ollie. "Without their help, we wouldn't have the amazing dog who's part of our lives now."
However, Ollie emphasizes that this is just the beginning for Ariel. "For us, it's a happy beginning."
