A dog owner caught a heartwarming scene on camera as her Great Pyrenees took two baby goats under her paw.

Bristol lives on a farm and keeps a protective eye over all the animals. Because she’s always outside, she often meets newborn animals before her owner.

Gentle giant

There was a time when her owner was nervous about the huge dog interacting with tiny newborn animals without human supervision. But not anymore.

The video shared by Bristol’s owner shows just what a gentle giant Bristol truly is as she steps in to care for the newborn goat kids.

Pyrenean Mountain Dogs like Bristol are renowned for their protective instincts, which traditionally guard livestock from predators in mountainous regions.

Surrogate mum

The video shows Bristol lying on the floor with the two little goat kids snuggling into her as their tails wag excitedly.

Bristol’s owner explains in the video that the two male goat kids were born overnight and when she came out in the morning, they were already dry. Presumably, Bristol had licked them clean. She watched in amazement as the little goats followed Bristol around the farm like two little shadows.

Well done, Bristol!

@bristolloveslucy Welcome to the family! Twin boys came over night and are doing great. Mama is doing great and doing a great job. Bristol is extra cautious for any potential threats as more babies are coming any time! #greatpyrenees #livestockguardiandog #babygoats ♬ I Was Made For Lovin' You - Kiss
