All stories of animals abandoned by their owners are heartbreaking, but something about Rocco’s story was all the more upsetting.
Heartbreaking note
Volunteers from El Refugio found The nine-month-old puppy abandoned in a Madrid park. He was tied to a bench with a muzzle and was all alone, apart from a bag containing his belongings and a heartbreaking note.
The note, written by the dog’s family, said: "Hello, my name is Rocco. I don't bite, I'm 9 months old, the family that had me couldn't keep me because they are unemployed. I have no chip, no vaccinations, I'm a puppy and very playful, take me with you. In the bag I have food and my things, don't leave me here!"
Despite their attempt to leave him in a visible area with food and possessions, the abandonment raised questions about the sudden change in their ability to care for Rocco.
Happy ending for Rocco
After the shelter took him in, the search for a new home for Rocco began. But despite being a friendly and playful pup, misconceptions about certain dog breeds would make finding him a new family all the more challenging.
Finally, Rocco’s dreams came true when a loving family came forward to offer him the loving home he deserved. He can now live life to the fullest in a stable, caring home.
Congratulations Rocco!
