A generous gesture to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

O’Grady's association with Battersea dates back to 2012 when he became an ambassador for the charity, inspired by the success of ITV’s acclaimed series "For The Love Of Dogs," which he presented. Throughout his tenure, spanning 11 seasons, he ardently supported the cause.

Following his demise, it was unveiled that O’Grady allocated a remarkable £550,000 to Battersea. This substantial donation shows just how much he cared about the charity, and the animals it rescued.

Honouring a lifelong commitment to compassion

But Battersea wasn't the only charity O'Grady included in his will. In fact, £775,000 was earmarked for organisations aligned with his passions. O’Grady also allocated £50,000 each to charities supporting elephant and orangutan conservation.

Moreover, he allocated £125,000 for the care of his cherished dogs. He just wanted to ensure that they were well cared for, even beyond his lifetime.

Continuing the legacy

As the world remembers Paul O’Grady for his contributions to entertainment and philanthropy, his legacy endures through the lives he touched and the causes he championed. His generosity serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the profound impact one individual can make through acts of kindness and compassion.

As "For the Love of Dogs" continues its journey with Alison Hammond as the new host, O’Grady’s spirit lives on, perpetuating his mission to advocate for the voiceless and marginalised in society.
