Bianca Smith founded Off The Grid animal sanctuary in San Francisco and takes in stray and abandoned dogs.
Surprise encounter
One day, she was in the sanctuary when some of the dogs she looked after started barking towards the door. So Bianca looked outside to see what had gotten the dogs’ attention, and to her amazement, she noticed a dog looking in.
Bianca had no idea how the dog had gotten there; it was as if the stray had just landed there by magic in front of the doors.
She went outside to meet the pup, explaining on Instagram that the poor dog was probably waiting for someone to come and help him.
Even though the dog initially looked a little intimidating to approach, he turned out to be adorable and had a lovely nature. He let Bianca approach him and even offered her his paw. The first meeting went so well that Bianca introduced him to another dog from the animal sanctuary to see how well he mixes with other canines.
Call for help
Bianca took to Instagram to ask for donations to help pay for the dog’s care. In her post, she explained that the shelter needs at least $1,500 for each dog to cover vet treatment, food, and supplies.
Dog lovers couldn’t resist commenting on Bianca’s post and donating to his care; one person noted, “His paw… wow, he knew to come to you. He was called just as you were.” Others shared their own experiences of taking in rescue pups.
We truly hope that people will continue to dig deep and ensure that this dog gets the second chance he deserves.
