It wasn’t the start to the New Year that staff at the Pierrelatte refuge in France had expected.
Despair and anger
The abandonment left the shelter team grappling with despair and anger, signalling that the well-being of animals was not a priority in this pet owner’s New Year resolutions.
The irresponsible owner had left the cat and a meagre collection of belongings outside the shelter gates, making no effort to ensure the feline’s safety.
A sad-looking cat basket, accompanied by a bowl of rain-soaked kibble, stood on the ground with no sign of the animal.
Searching for cat
Taking to Facebook to express their frustration, the shelter team questioned the owner’s expectations, sarcastically wondering if they believed the abandoned cat would patiently wait for rescue. The post also pointed out that the cat basket had been left under a sign displaying the shelter’s contact number.
Staff continue to search for the cat while also investigating the person’s identity. The shelter ended its post by expressing how it wished the callous owner would have anything but a good New Year.
