Was Luna abandoned in a cold car park by a cruel owner, or was she simply taken to her favourite place to hang out for a few hours?
Suspected abandonment in car park
While Luna had a rocky start to life, the intrigue surrounding the tortoiseshell cat only heightened when an animal shelter received reports that the cat had been abandoned in a car park.
Passersby recounted a man leaving his car with Luna, walking a short distance and then driving away without her. The outraged onlookers searched for the cat and reported the incident to the shelter and police.
The shelter then took to Facebook, condemning the owner for cruelty, deeming his actions stupid and irresponsible.
Unexpected twist…and an apology
However, the truth soon appeared and painted a very different picture. A subsequent post from the shelter revealed a heartwarming twist: Luna had not been abandoned, but her owner, Shkumbin Latifi, had taken her to the area to play. He shared on Facebook the history of rescuing Luna from another country and driving her to safety in Germany.
Latifi explained that Luna lived near a busy street, making it unsafe for her, so he trained her for months to enjoy outdoor play in a specific location. Latifi reassured everyone that Luna was chipped, neutered, and cared for.
Despite initial resistance, the shelter eventually apologised to Luna’s owner, acknowledging their inappropriate choice of words in the original post. They recognised Luna’s joyful outings and expressed regret for any offence caused.
