It took Kevin a long time to finally find his new forever home, but now he's charming his new family and entire neighbourhood with his adorable toy habit.

Kevin is an 8-year-old Red Heeler mix who came to New York City after being adopted by his new owner, Alexandra Petri.

How it all began

One of the first things Alexandra did was take Kevin for a bath at one of the city's self-wash facilities. He was such a good boy for his bath that Alexandra rewarded him with a toy for his good behaviour. What ensued was nothing short of adorable. Kevin clutched his newfound treasure tightly during the entire journey home. This was the start of Kevin's obsession.

Kevin's attachment to his toys only grew stronger. Now, whenever he goes out for a walk, he insists on taking one of his toys. The adorable pup is rarely spotted on the streets without a plushie firmly clenched between his jaws.

His toy collection includes everything from a blue hippo to a lamb and a frog. Whenever he senses it's time for an outdoor excursion, Kevin will select one from his assortment before eagerly heading for the door.

Kevin’s toy obsession

According to Alexandra, while Kevin does have favourite soft toys, she can never predict which toy he'll grab that day for his walk. While Kevin will eventually let go of his toy during his walk, he can always count on his mum to scoop it up and safely carry it for him on the homeward journey.

Alexandra has shared an adorable video of Kevin enjoying a walk with his soft toys:

While Kevin's backstory remains a mystery, one thing is undeniable: he's thriving in his new city life. As he continues to explore the urban landscape, his endearing plushie obsession has only endeared him further to his adoring mom and neighbourhood.
