Sadly, this type of behaviour isn’t rare. Many people decide to abandon their pets for various reasons, but this remains animal cruelty and is illegal in many countries, including the UK.
Efforts are being made by authorities to limit the number of abandonments, including pursuing those who are caught red-handed.
Smile, you’re on camera
CCTV caught the sad scene on tape. The man can be seen pulling his dog out of the car and checking over his shoulder to be sure he is alone before letting go of the lead. He then rushes back to re-enter his car and drives away, without a single look back or a goodbye to his companion.
The dog is left behind, clearly confused as to what happened.
What the man didn’t know was that he was being filmed the whole time. When the police discovered the tape, they traced the license plate back to the man’s address and arrested him on animal cruelty charges.
A new life
The little dog, named Claira-Belle, was taken away from the dangers of the road and into the warmth and safety of a local animal rescue.
Soon after, her glowing personality and good looks won the hearts of a loving family. She is now enjoying life to the fullest, being loved every day by people who truly care about her, and will never treat her in the way she was treated before.
A happy ending for a lovely dog who deserves the best!
