A riverside walk turned into an unexpected rescue mission for one man when something small, ginger and fluffy, caught his eye in the river below.

With everything that's going on in the world, it’s nice to be reminded that there are good Samaritans who will do whatever they can to help someone or something in distress. As this heartwarming video shows.

Rescue mission

The clip begins with a man on the side of a river lowering down a small cardboard box attached to a rope. Below him, standing precariously on the top of a post in the water, is a tiny little ginger kitten, seemingly stranded with no idea how to get out.

The man slowly lowers the box into the river, and as the kitten sees the box coming toward them, it starts desperately meowing at it. As if understanding that the box is its only way out of the river, the kitten bravely jumps into the box, only getting its bottom and tail wet.

The man then gently pulls up the cardboard box while the person filming the rescue gives instructions. As soon as the box safely reaches the side, the cat jumps out and runs off into the brushes.

While he may not have said it, we are sure he's very grateful to the kind-hearted man!
