There’s nothing like the bond between a dog and their human. So when that bond is broken, it is simply heartbreaking.

A couple of months ago, a man came to Trenton Animals Rock shelter with his 11-year-old Mastiff-type dog. The man explained he was in a difficult situation and had nowhere to go himself. He couldn’t give his beloved dog, Blue Bear, the life he deserved.

A heartbreaking goodbye

Sobbing, he handed his dog over to the shelter staff, knowing they would help Blue Bear live out his golden years in the best possible way.

But after his owner left, Blue Bear was left inconsolable. He stood behind the door, waiting for his owner to come back, crying when he realised he wouldn't. It was impossible for him to know that this was the best thing for him - all he knew was that the only owner he’d ever known was now gone…

Forever fam on the horizon

The shelter sent out an urgent appeal to find a foster home for Blue Bear. They knew he was too stressed and depressed to stay in kennels. Besides, they had promised his dad that he wouldn’t spend a single night at the shelter.

And within hours, Blue Bear was in a wonderful foster home with loving foster parents. Since then, he’s been making a lot of progress and started feeling more like himself. He does have some old-dog problems, but apart from that, he’s fit as a fiddle! He’s now ready to find his new forever home.

We wish only the best for this sweet guy.
