A move is the perfect time to get rid of old furniture. But it’s very important to check every nook and cranny of your belongings before you get rid of them.

A family in Denver, USA, dropped off an old armchair at a second-hand shop, unaware of what would unfold later.

Thinking it was just a stray, the employees contacted Denver Animal Protection, who promptly came to pick him up. At the shelter, the cat, named Montequlla, was scanned for a microchip, but unfortunately, his information hadn’t been updated.

Lucky reunion

Thankfully, the family quickly realised their beloved pet was gone and immediately called the second-hand shop to find out if they had seen him. The shop directed them to the shelter, and within mere hours, they were reunited with their beloved Montequlla again.

Such a happy ending – and a good reminder to check your furniture before you throw it out and to always keep microchip details up-to-date!
