Last Saturday in Przeworsk, Poland, a dramatic rescue operation unfolded involving firefighters and a tiny kitten in desperate need of help.
He had fallen into a well on private property. It was a staggering 82 feet deep - the height of an eight-storey building.
The property owners heard desperate meowing coming from deep underground and immediately contacted emergency services.

Fearing for his life
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they couldn't believe their eyes. The well wasn't just very deep, it was also very narrow, making access to the terrified cat incredibly challenging.
Fortunately, the firefighters had specialist equipment that allowed them to safely reach the bottom of the shaft.
After what felt like forever, the kitten was pulled to the surface. Safe and sound, but understandably frightened and exhausted.
The kitten's happy ending
The District Command of the State Fire Service in Przeworsk emphasised that whilst this was an unusual operation, it demonstrated the importance of quick response and professionalism from emergency services.
Thanks to the dedication and courage of the team, this story had a happy ending. The kitten was returned to his family, who were delighted to be reunited.
